When I started working with animals I learned a lot. Unfortunately, one of the things I learned was that a lot of pets I took care of were not well. Their conditions ranged from diabetes requiring insulin, to incontinence, renal failure, seizures, digestive disorders and allergies, all of which required a regimen of pills. More seriously, pets were getting cancer at alarming rates and often it was not discovered until it was too late, and without warning dogs and cats in the last stages were gone within days.
Over the past few years it’s been increasingly understood that inadequate diet, over vaccination, environmental toxins and stress are leading causes of illnesses in pets and have drastically reduced their life spans by half in only the past few decades. Despite awareness of factors that directly impact their health, many puppies and kittens born today will carry the health-related baggage of their parents and will not be completely immune to the possibility of devastating diseases. 50% of dogs today will get cancer.
So what more can anyone do? The answer is simple. Add an algae superfood called BioPreparation every day to your pets’ diet. Why algae? Because algae was formulated by Nature and is therefore safer and more complete than a supplement formulated by a scientist in a lab.
Spirulina pacifica , Spirulina platensis, Dunaliella salina and astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis are the four micro algae species that when used in combination with each other, feed and balance the glands in the brain to awaken the body’s ability to heal itself. Algae nutritionally supports the body in health as well as helping it fight illness. This is different from how traditional medicine works.
When illness strikes, traditional medicine treats the symptom, which, while suppressing it, often does nothing to eliminate the underlying condition that caused it in the first place. Medicines often have negative impacts on the body, requiring even more medicine to alleviate secondary problems that start to occur. If a person or an animal has more than one condition, the number of medications and the balancing act in administering them effectively can quickly become a tangled mess.
For example, one dog I know suffers from seizures. He’s on traditional treatment that calls for Phenobarbital and Potassium Bromide. He also suffers from recurring Lyme’s Disease so antibiotics are needed regularly. He has arthritis that flares up from time to time requiring pain medication. Lately, he suffered from an attack of Pancreatitis, which can be deadly in dogs. Each time he has a cluster of seizures, his medication, which negatively impacts kidney function and will shorten his life, is increased. This often impacts the levels of his other medications. His pattern has almost become predictable – A period of feeling well, followed by decrease in appetite, followed by stiffness of legs or inability to maintain equilibrium, followed by more seizures, followed by a change in medication dosage. And repeat.
Maybe you and your pet don’t suffer from conditions quite so extreme. But maybe, in treating your own arthritis or supplementing your pet’s healthy raw diet, you take Glucosamine Chondroitin, and give your pet a digestive enzyme. That’s beneficial – right?
Wrong. Supplements can have side effects as well as a negative effect on the body – why? Because by doing the job the body was intended to do, they undermine the body’s ability to function on its own.
What’s the answer to this mess? The combination of the four Algae mentioned above. Because the formula works with the master glands, it helps all of the body’s systems, which work together, function optimally. You can’t really treat one system of the body without affecting another. This results in a stronger immune system and the body’s greater ability to function naturally.
Because the algae formula is food, there are no contraindications with any medication or protocol. There are no “side” effects or ill effects. Algae are native (or naturally accepted by) both humans and animals. It’s even been effective with Johne’s disease in a few Bighorn Sheep who contracted the disease, when the normal protocol is to euthanize the whole herd due to the severity and devastation that the illness causes.
Yesterday I spoke with Russell Louie, a holistic expert, who has been using algae for close to a decade, about one of my clients, Rosie, a 5 year old Labrador Retriever. She’d been diagnosed with Evans Disease on Monday. I’d never heard of Evan’s disease but learned it was often linked with other autoimmune diseases affecting the blood. 50% of dogs with these diseases die within 2 weeks of diagnosis. Causes for its appearance can be as simple as exposure to onions, or application of topical flea and tick preventives too soon after a vaccination or at other times when the immune system has been weakened.
Russell explained that Prednisone, the drug used to treat the condition, stops the body from attacking itself but does nothing to help the body start producing new blood cells.
Because of the critical nature of this disease and its rapid progression, immediate action needs to be taken. If caught in time, the algae can nutritionally support the body’s innate ability to heal and resume producing healthy red/white blood cells and platelets like it used to do when it was balanced and healthy.
Russell has seen more cases of autoimmune diseases affecting the blood in the past six years than most veterinarians do in a lifetime. Owners have contacted him as a last resort when their vets told them there was nothing left that could be done. A minimum of 50% of the dogs fed algae superfood survived. That’s half of the dogs who would otherwise have died.
Consider the following conditions in pets, many of them deadly. In all cases, algae has successfully supported the body nutritionally , either drastically reducing or eliminating medications (under veterinary supervision) or improving the quality of or prolonging life, often saving lives:
· Seizures
· Lyme’s Disease
· Allergies
· Mast Cell Tumors
· Autoimmune blood disorders
· Fear and Aggression
· Symptoms stemming from Vaccinosis
· Leaky Gut
· Inflammatory Bowel Disease
· Renal Failure
So you still think this isn’t for you or your pet? Sometimes when we hear them often, the most important words become hackneyed and like white noise, so we no longer hear them or value their importance. The words that come to mind now are “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” My dogs, Dasher and Bella have been taking Algae for almost two years now. They are nine and seven years old. I want them to stay with me for as long as they can – and I take it daily myself, even though I consider myself extremely healthy.
Algae superfoods contain powerful antioxidants that keep your immune system strong, combating stress, fatigue and other assaults to your health and wellness, and that of your pet’s. Unfortunately, too many people wait until symptoms appear and for disaster to strike to try holistic “alternatives”. Often, no matter what the holistic treatment is, it’s too late. Why not make the best effort to take action and avoid the worst-case scenario in the first place? Why not make “alternative” your first choice? (Oh, and along with BioPreparation for your pet, order yourself the human version, BioSuperfood!)

Hi Beth, I agree about Algae as a superfood. I, AND my lab have been taking a liquid aloe vera and sea vegetable whole food supplement for years now. I drink 8 ounces a day and Beau gets 4 ounces a day. Beau is pushing 14 but still has the energy and vitality to chase away the unwanted critters around the property. Sea vegetables are considered an Algea and are one of the most nutritive dense foods on the planet. The minerals that are missing in our foods are still abundant in these plants.
I have some info aboit these plants and about the supplement Beau and I take on my Blog http://www.johnslfi.wordpress.com
Check it out and tell me what you think,
be well,
John
Hi Beth! My cats receive dry spirulina (one type of algae) often as well as Amazon Herb’s Aquazon powder which contains a mix of fresh and salt water algae. They all eat it fine sprinkled on dry food or mixed with canned.
My holistic vet actually recommended the spirulina for 1 cat in part b/c of it’s benefit in dealing with allergies and I HAVE seen great benefits with this alone used in a separate cat who had a once time overgrooming occurance to the point of balding himself due to a random unknown allergic reaction (not fleas). He did need to have a few weeks of the spirulina daily for it to kick in but it worked amazingly and we avoided the cortisone shot.
I have heard it’s important to know your source of algae as they can readily pick up toxic metals from the waters they’re grown in. Thanks for writing about this! I may look into it!

Hi Danielle,
Thanks for your reply. Spirulina does indeed have many benefits! This prepraration contains not only Spirulina, but a combination of the best and most beneficial algae on the planet. This combination halted cancer in lab animals – and later was reformulated into a human version as well that halted a pancreatic cancer epidemic in one family.
In combination, the four algae have a greater positive impact on the body’s ability to function than do single species although they are also beneficial as you have seen. You can read about that here: http://www.optimumchoices.com/BioSuperfood-Algae-Spirulina.htm
Also, you’re right – the source is very important. Since virtually no waters of the earth are unpolluted, these algae are grown hydroponically in closed bio-reactors in the pristine environment of Siberia.
